Mazda Hakaze

The Hakaze is the third and final installment in Mazda's series of nature-inspired, hard-to-pronounce concepts for the 2007 auto-show season; the Nagare and the Ryuga debuted in L.A. and Detroit, respectively. As with those cars, Mazda said it's continuing the theme of flow and movement in this all-wheel-drive hatchback.
This time around, Mazda has chosen kite surfing as its muse. Everything from the exterior lines and wetsuit-like upholstery to the golden shimmery exterior is supposed to evoke images of hitching your surfboard to a kite off Hawaii's glistening shores. (What? You've never been kite surfing?)
According to Mazda, the Hakaze has approximately the same proportions as the Mazda3, but its higher hip point and wider stance would make it more at home in the crossover SUV segment. The Hakaze can be equipped with either a gas or diesel engine. The concept has a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive to maintain traction on sand.
The driver's seat features a wraparound cockpit design to give the car a sportier feel, and the rear two-thirds of the glass roof are removable to make it more roadster-like. All seats, including the rear ones, are electronically adjustable to expand the storage area in the hatchback. Additionally, the Hakaze offers a wireless internet connection and a digital camera that can film the road or the car's interior.

KTM X-Bow

Photo: KTM X-Bow
Austrian motorcycle builder KTM first revealed its new X-Bow (crossbow) roadster in 2007, but sales didn't begin until 2008. The 1500-pound car has a four-cylinder Audi engine offering 237 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 228 pound-feet of torque between 2200 and 4000 rpm. Audi reportedly considered selling a version of the X-Bow under its own brand, but later dropped the idea.
Photo: KTM X-Bow

KTM is expected to add the option for an even more powerful 300 horsepower engine in the future. A choice of either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox is offered. KTM says the X-Bow will hit 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. A top speed of 180 mph is said to be possible. The X-Bow has no windshield, and instead will come with specially designed helmets, intended to offer shelter from the elements rather than full crash protection. KTM originally intended to build 500 X-Bows annually but has already received orders for over 1,000 examples. Pricing starts around $55,000 in the United States. Between the X-Bow and the Ariel Atom, it appears as though more companies are attempting to offer supercar performance at a more main-stream price. While the new entrants don't offer the luxury or prestige of more expensive sports car, they do rival their performance numbers. Although it remains to be seen if the new breed of ultra-light and affordable sports cars can sustain their popularity, the news of KTM's expansion seems to be good news for the segment.

Jaguar C-XF Concept

Embargo breaking notwithstanding, there is still lots of information to share on the C-XF Concept that Jaguar will officially debut at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. The design finally breaks Jaguar away from the ball and chain of its own traditions with a decidedly un-retro shape that still manages to exude a feline quality. This cat is more like a lion, however, thanks to a 4.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 420 hp and 368 ft-lbs. of torque driving the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The C-XF also showcases some new technology, including something called JaguarSense that allows certain functions in the cockpit to be activated with a gesture of the hand instead of the push of a button. The interior also employs advanced lighting that bathes the cabin in an electric blue when the vehicle is started. Now, Jaguar's design director Ian Callum and his team want us to know that we are not staring at the next S-Type sedan, though the C-XF does display the brand's new design direction going forward.

THE ALL-NEW JAGUAR C-XF REVEALED

All-New Jaguar Concept Car Reveals Dramatic New Design Direction for Future Sport Sedans

IRVINE, Calif. January 3, 2007 – The all-new Jaguar C-XF concept car, a stunning four-door sedan that blends dynamic, modern features with classic, heritage cues, will make its debut at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Mich. This concept, which boasts a 4.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, signifies a new era for the company and is a clear indication of the design direction for the company's next-generation of sport sedans.

Headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum and Head of Advanced Design Julian Thomson, the concept was designed by the same team that produced the award-winning 2007 Jaguar XK Coupe and Convertible. The team looked to create a vehicle that presents a confident statement of design purity. In doing so, the C-XF possesses a sense of latent power through a look that is dynamic and athletic.

"The Jaguar C-XF concept is the most dynamic and modern four-door car that Jaguar has ever created, a design showcase heralding the next generations of our sports saloon models," says Ian Callum. "It signals a future for Jaguar that is as exciting as the C-XF itself."

The concept sedan features single, slim-wedged headlamps which have evolved from the twin-lamp motif seen on past Jaguars. The lights are thin and angular, producing an aggressive look for the car's front profile. Running from the headlamps to the rear wheel haunch is an unbroken, main feature line that gives the car a sense of power and movement. Furthering the vehicles aggressive appearance are the muscular bonnet, side power vents, tapered tail and deeply recessed front grille.

The vehicle's modern, sports design philosophy is applied to the cabin as well, with the emphasis tailored toward performance as opposed to luxury. Inside are lightweight, sculpted bucket-style front seats and twin individual rear bucket seats. Running in between the seats is a tall, central transmission tunnel that gives the occupants a sense of sitting deep within a futuristic cockpit. In addition, a brushed aluminum fascia wraps around the cabin, producing a dynamic linear graphic that instills a sense of velocity. Design Director Ian Callum describes the cabin of the all-new C-XF concept car as "one of the most exciting interiors Jaguar has ever done."

Enhancing the cabin experience is the introduction of the vehicle's new technologies that blend simplicity of design with practical innovation. JaguarSense, a prototype technology which employs motion detecting sensors to activate certain vehicle features, reacts to the sweep of a hand, making it advance yet intuitive. Also, the C-XF has a jewel-like Power button that pulses like a heartbeat on the center console and once pushed, aluminum rings lower from the center console to reveal the gear shift knob. As the engine starts, a blue light sweeps around the cabin, the entire roofline illuminates with a muted blue light and a final blue light shines from the front grille, signifying the car's ignition.

The C-XF is not just another concept car – it is much more than that. Its dynamic styling and modern design offer a glimpse to the future for Jaguar. The exterior is pure and athletic, the interior striking and contemporary while the technology innovative and practical. The C-XF is the new direction of Jaguar design.

From its beginning as a manufacturer of motorcycle sidecars in 1922, Jaguar Cars has grown to become one of the world's premier manufacturers of luxury sedans and sports cars and with that, one of the most recognized commercial brands. The company's vision is simple: To produce beautiful fast cars that are desired the world over. The company operates two manufacturing plants in the United Kingdom and is fully engaged in environmental programs, community work and brand awareness exercises such as motorsports.

TOYOTA HYBIRD CONCEPT CAR

Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept
Toyota wants teenage boys to daydream about hybrids, apparently.
The FT-HS hybrid sports concept car will be premiered on January 7 at the North American International Auto Show, and we can expect 50:50 weight distribution and a 400+ horsepower monster with a drivetrain very similar to the Lexus GS 450h: a 3.5 liter V6 coupled to Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) system (which could mean SULEV emissions, but no word on fuel economy yet). This could be the next Supra.
What is interesting is not the direct impact of this car on the environment, though we can expect it to be better than the "traditional" V8 gasoline-powered sports cars it will compete against (a lesser evil). No, the interesting thing is the "halo" effect it could have, making hybrids cool and desirable to a new public. Even if they never end up buying that particular model, they'll notice the technology and associate it with something they want instead of something they don't.
toyota-ft-hs-02.jpg
Of course, we would be a lot happier if Toyota made a less-powerful but more fuel efficient version of it, maybe even a plug-in hybrid, diesel-hybrid or all-electric version.
toyota-ft-hs-03.jpg
toyota-ft-hs-10.jpg
And while they're at it, why not make the regular hybrid version come by default with the $30 sensor that would allow it to be flex fuel (run on an 85/15 mix of ethanol/gasoline).
toyota-ft-hs-04.jpg
And while the concept makes extensive use of pricy materials like carbon fiber and aluminum, the FT-HS is expected to portend a toned-down production variant. There’s some debate about what segment said vehicle would play in, as well as name and cost, but Toyota says it is fantasizing about projecting a price tag of around $35,000 and a 0-60 mile-per-hour time of around 4 seconds.

MARUSSIA B2

MARUSSIA sports car was engineered on the basis of a new special chassis, created by Russian engineers. It is a fast sports car with wonderful aerodynamic characteristics, which will be certified for city driving.
The main requirement for the production is the use of the high-tech materials and components. Ideologists of the project Nikolay Fomenko and Yefim Ostrovsky believe that innovations and reliability are the key factors of the production under MARUSSIA trademark. Among the main car characteristics one can see a unique design of the vehicle exterior, which can be chosen in person; high operating performance; comfortable city driving.
Uniqueness of the concept is that of several completely different in design and color vehicle bodies can fit sole chassis. Together with the outside appearance, the interior design may be changed also to match colour and shape of the body. Finally, in spite of all changes the character and driving facilities of the car will remain unchanged. So, off-the-shelf product becomes an exclusive car, which has no analogues in the world. The competition between young Russian designers took place to find out the best version of an outside appearance of the first sport car. Functionality and multimedia options of the car boggle the imagination even of the most exacting users. The up-to-date technologies such as audio, video, Bluetooth, 4G Yota Internet access and VoIP are provided for the driver and the passengers of MARUSSIA.
The first automobile Marussia is equipped with a 3.5 litre petrol engine providing 240bhp. A racing version of the car, which is being developed now, would be engineered with respect to contemporary auto racing technologies. At present MARUSSIA is a mid-engined vehicle, but the working on a front- and rear-engined versions of chassis has been already started. Along with several kinds of outside appearance, the expansion of the production range and creation of vehicles of other classes is planned: in particular, more popular among customers, five seat four-wheel drive SUV.

2012 Mercedes-Benz S-class

When Mercedes F700 concept held odd years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show, many speculated that it was destined to be futile in automotive styling. Not so according to people close to the project. Latest reports claim both the technology and car design will eventually make its way into the next generation S-Class due in 2012.

The tack-on body panels and lights placeholder element in the prototype is clearly a lot of details that will determine the next S-class, but there are plenty of camouflage does not hide. Profile and the proportion remained similar to the current car, but we hope to have an inch or more space between the axle on both short-and long wheelbase model-. LWB versions appear higher than today's S-class, and a curved roof line appears to relax on the back window of a touch more than it does today, S. Below stretches cladding, body side will be flowing fender contours and sweeping treatment of the current and future E-Class 2011 CLS-class. Unlike the models, however, eschews the grand saloon-looking chop for greenhouse ceiling height and large windows that remind us a lot of the S-class side-slab in the 1990s. Well, and the Popemobile.

Now, while the camouflage also preempts our ability to accurately predict the end of the styling front, we think this is the S-class will make a major leap in that area than its predecessor slowly evolved. Hope, such as fashion lately, lots of LED lights which are given in some "brand-defining" pattern. (Do not be fooled by the LED on the prototype of this, too, because they come from a S-class now). We thought the front end can take a lot of inspiration from the radical concept of the 2007 F700. The final prediction of our designs: A clamshell-style front hood (so to align with other models of Mercedes Benz-most) and, less elegant and bustle-backed excess baggage.

Like the current model, the new car will come for both the short and long wheelbase versions and will be supported by a variety of V6, V8 and V12 powerplants - both naturally aspirated and turbocharged. However, new to the lineup will be the introduction of four-cylinder model is adjusted. Mercedes F700 actually used for previewing new powertrain, called DiesOtto, longer provide instructions for what to expect in the next S-Class.

Mercedes F700 is also used for active preview of the new PRE-SCAN suspension, a system that scours the road ahead using two lasers and automatically adjusts the suspension accordingly. Another feature is the new Servo-HMI (Human Machine Interface), which is equipped with a virtual operating assistant that the driver can converse with. Expecting to see a similar system in the S-Class and toned down version of a new future in other models.

Cadillac CTS Coupe 2011

Some may call 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe polarizing design, but in an informal survey, it is further away than the enemy fans. What's not to love, after all - chunky-B pillar, the rear of a large, fat fenders, narrow greenhouse - it is a merger of the features that have been reserved for concept cars in the past. But this month's sales in August, and starts from $ 38,990 to the standard coupe and $ 62,990 to CTS-V Coupe.

That is about $ 10,000 under the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, the most direct competitor, and only a tick above the starting price of the Infiniti G Coupe, which although also a very handsome car, and a little sporty in standard trim, not really really aspire to a larger, reusable real-chair of the CTS. In other words, it's certainly attractive price, no matter what you put into the class.

We will be out in California to give a thorough search CTS Coupe soon, but until then, we can tell you what we know of the car from the time we spent in the passenger seat of the CTS-V Coupe: it's just as roomy as a sedan in this , apart from the rear seat headroom, such as shares the same wheelbase four-door with her friend. And although the ride, power and CTS-V's interior is a notch above the standard car, the overall serenity, comfort and quality right on par for the price and segment. We'll see if the standard CTS Coupe this interesting as well, but we fully expect.
In the meantime, you can start setting aside cash to advance their own, because we are less than three months from the retail debut. For the full release, including the pricing details on the AWD model and upgrade options, press page two.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2011

Last year Aston Martin V12 Vantage has been released, but was banned for sale in the United States. Aston follow the American concept of time be respected. Retrieve bodyshell your most compact, honkin 'machines. This is called the musclecar. Of course, the interpretation of the theme musclecar Aston somewhat more polite, sophisticated and aristocratic than, say, a '70 Chevy Chevelle SS454.

Initially created for the entire world, the front end of a very solid car with the engine that there is no room for the structures necessary to meet U.S. crash regulations. In a barrier impact speed is needed, note the doll's chest deceleration rate limits.

The engineers had to think hard to meet customer needs. Analysis and computer models show a location where some additional aluminum longitudinal member can be installed to change the path and soften the burden of slowing. It tested well, and this car is the result. Extra weight is not significant. And the performance, handling and styling mods are not affected by the accident.

The V12 engine is a 5.9-liter, 510 horsepower kick, enough to zero time-to-60mph is claimed at 4.1 seconds. M / T has not tested for zero-to-60 on our paradigm. Transmission is rear-mounted six-speed manual, although an optional full AMT and automatically appear in other Astons. The Vantage V12 keep things relatively simple: none of the adaptive dampers from DBS, there is no choice of transmission, not a lot of menu-driven.

ASTON MARTIN ONE 77

Throne of the most expensive in the world inhabited by the new king with the logo of Aston Martin. Aston Martin will soon be 77 which was officially launched in the near future be sold at a price of U.S. $ 1.5 million dollars (15 billion more) and only produced as many as 77 fruits and forgiveness, has sold-out! Berkonfigurasi V12 engine capable of carrying 77 Aston Martin zoomed up speed 97 km / h in 3.5 seconds with a maximum speed limited to 320 km / hour.

“Quite simply it had to be the ultimate expression of Aston Martin. As you can now see, we have achieved that goal in magnificent style.”
Chris Porritt, Aston Martin One-77 Programme Manager continued: “We wanted to create something that wows you as much when you see what’s under the skin as the exterior styling itself. We started by identifying the most technologically exciting front-engined, rear-wheel drive cars in the world: those from the DTM race series. We then applied the principles and technology that feature heavily in their design and translated it to a road car application.”
Consequently the Aston Martin One-77’s structural core is a lightweight and immensely rigid carbon fibre monocoque. Conceived and designed at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ, the monocoque, or ‘tub’, has been built in partnership with Multimatic (MTC). As world leaders in carbon composite technology, advanced vehicle analysis and dynamic simulation, MTC brings unrivalled specialist capabilities to the exacting challenge of the Aston Martin One-77 programme.
Employing the classic formula of double wishbones at each corner, the Aston Martin One-77 features inboard suspension front and rear, with pushrods employed to transfer vertical suspension movements to the horizontally mounted spring/damper units. A practice taken directly from racing car design, the main advantages of inboard suspension are a reduction in unsprung weight and the ability to package the suspension components more effectively.
The dampers are fully adjustable and feature advanced Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) technology; a world-first for a road car application. These special valves are state-of-the-art even at the highest levels of motorsport, and use high-precision machined components to enable the shock-absorbing characteristics of the damper to be changed without having to remove them from the car, as is the norm.
Underlining the truly bespoke nature of the Aston Martin One-77, once delivered to its owner, the car’s suspension characteristics will be precisely set-up by Aston Martin engineers to suit their exact requirements, from settings suitable for the ultimate long-distance GT, to a machine capable of conquering the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
While functionality and efficiency are paramount in the design and construction of the Aston Martin One-77, so too is aesthetic beauty. To this end every single component has been crafted from the finest materials with absolute attention to detail. From the mesmerising weave of the glossy carbon fibre tub and the abstract, sculptural beauty of the dry sump’s oil reservoir, to the unerring precision of the billet machined aluminium suspension mounts, the Aston Martin One-77’s rolling chassis is an automotive masterpiece.
Of course the irony is that the vast majority of these exquisite components will be hidden from view in the finished car, yet each and every piece is a work of art in its own right. It’s this extraordinary workmanship and money-no-object commitment to quality that makes the Aston Martin One-77 unique.
Naturally, such a spectacular chassis demands – and gets – an equally exceptional drivetrain. It comes in the form of an immensely potent 7.3-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine. Thanks to the adoption of a dry-sump oil system the engine is mounted 100mm lower than in any previous V12-engined Aston Martin road car, which helps keep the Aston Martin One-77’s centre-of-gravity as low as possible. To further aid agility and endow the Aston Martin One-77 with progressive handling and stable, predictable on-limit behaviour, the engine is also mounted 257mm aft relative to the front wheel centreline. In so doing the front-mid-engined layout shared by all of Aston Martin’s current road car range has been taken to a new level.
The Aston Martin One-77’s magnificent power unit is an extreme evolution of the 6.0-litre V12 engines fitted to the Aston Martin DBS, DB9 and new V12 Vantage models. Like the collaboration with MTC for the build of the chassis, Aston Martin has chosen a world-leading partner with which to develop the motor: legendary engine builders, Cosworth. It has proved to be the perfect collaboration, as Chris Porritt explains.
“Our brief to the engine team was for them to take the 6.0-litre V12 as far as it could go, both in terms of output and weight reduction. The targets were a power output of no less than 700bhp with a 10 per cent reduction in engine mass. Incredibly, the Aston Martin and Cosworth engineers achieved a mass reduction of some 25 per cent, and although we’ve yet to complete the final engine calibration work, I’m confident we’ll see in excess of 700bhp. It’s an awesome accomplishment, but one that’s typical of the One-77 project, for it has consistently brought out the very best in everyone involved.”
Wearing Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres (255/35 ZR20 front, 335/30 ZR20 rear) developed specifically for the Aston Martin One-77, all 700+bhp is transmitted to the road through the rear wheels via a new six-speed gearbox. Controlled via column-mounted paddles behind the steering wheel, this robotised sequential manual is a new generation of Aston Martin’s familiar transmission. Though it is made specifically for the Aston Martin One-77 and features specially strengthened internals to cope with the tremendous power and torque, the lessons learned in its development will ultimately find their way into the company’s series production models.
It’s a mark of the inherent capabilities of Aston Martin’s acclaimed lightweight Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake technology that it has been used as the basis for the Aston Martin One-77’s braking system. The internals of the callipers have been re-engineered to transmit less heat from the brake pads into the brake fluid, while the discs themselves have been developed to ensure the maximum possible contact area between the face of the disc and the brake pads for improved stopping power. Due to the Aston Martin One-77’s increased performance, special attention has also been paid to brake cooling, as the brakes have less time to cool between bursts of acceleration.
With a projected weight of 1,500kg the Aston Martin One-77 will occupy the very highest echelons of road car performance. Top speed is confidently predicted to be in excess of 200mph, with a 0-60mph time in approximately 3.5sec. Perhaps more importantly, thanks to the purity of a front-engined, rear-drive layout, the responsiveness and immense tractability of a naturally aspirated V12 and the low mass, high-rigidity properties of a carbon fibre chassis, the Aston Martin One-77 promises a driving experience of unrivalled intensity and excitement while representing the world’s most desirable automotive art form.

With prices much for the place of origin, this car could be worth more than 20 billion if the trafficked here. But the actual record holder for most expensive car in the world this year is the year 1961 Ferrari 250GT is sold at a price of U.S. $ 11 million dollars. But the car is classified as a classic sports car produced a few tens of years ago and has its own history that makes it very expensive.
